From the Office of the President of the United States

A Proclamation

This National Park Week, we gather to honor the stunning landscapes and profound histories safeguarded within our national parks. The week will kick off with a significant event marking the 250th anniversary of the Battles of Lexington and Concord, the initial clashes of the American Revolutionary War, at Minute Man National Historical Park in Middlesex County, Massachusetts. Here, ceremonies and reenactments will pay tribute to the valor of those patriots who stood firm against oppression, igniting the flame of freedom that transformed our nation’s trajectory forever.

In my role as President, I have taken steps to restore names within our parks that reflect the greatness of America — including the reinstatement of Mount McKinley to its original name. I am also pleased to announce the establishment of the National Garden of American Heroes — a monument honoring 250 American patriots who exemplified courage, love for their country, and commitment to our nation’s highest ideals. My administration is dedicated to fostering an education system that instills a sense of patriotism and respect for our history, notably through the efforts of the White House Task Force on Celebrating America’s 250th Birthday.

Our national parks serve as profound sources of inspiration, education, and recreation — embodying our customs and culture. Established in 1872, Yellowstone National Park was the first national park in the world, sparking a proud American legacy that has resulted in over 400 nationally significant park sites. From ancient dwellings and architectural marvels to historic battlefields where our ancestors fought for independence, these parks attract hundreds of millions of visitors each year.

This National Park Week, we reaffirm our commitment to cherish and protect these stunning symbols of American excellence, pledging to ensure their beauty endures for future generations.

NOW, THEREFORE, I, DONALD J. TRUMP, President of the United States of America, by the authority vested in me by the Constitution and the laws of the United States, do hereby proclaim April 19 through April 27, 2025, as National Park Week. I invite all Americans to celebrate our national parks by deepening their understanding of the natural and historical heritage that is the birthright of every citizen of the United States.

IN WITNESS WHEREOF, I have set my hand this twenty-third day of April, in the year of our Lord two thousand twenty-five, and of the Independence of the United States of America the two hundred and forty-ninth.

DONALD J. TRUMP
