A tragic incident in the Bronx has left a young man, Daoud Marji, dead after being shot in the head. The 28-year-old plumber’s apprentice was visiting the area with a friend from Detroit when he was caught in the crossfire, becoming an innocent bystander in a senseless act of violence. This heartbreaking event marks the second time in as many days that an innocent New Yorker has been killed in random gun violence on the city’s streets.

Daoud’s father, Saed Marji, expressed his shock and grief over the loss of his son, emphasizing the pain of losing his own blood. Despite warnings about the dangerous nature of the Bronx, Daoud ventured to University Avenue near West Kingsbridge Road, where tragedy struck. The devastating news was delivered to Saed via a call from a Detroit number, informing him that his son had been shot.

The community is reeling from the loss of Daoud, who was described as a hardworking and kind-hearted individual by family friend Ray Khoury. Daoud, who immigrated to the US from Jordan as a child, was known for his helpful nature and polite demeanor, always willing to lend a hand to those in need. The senseless violence that claimed his life has left a void in the community, with many mourning the loss of such a beloved individual.

This recent incident comes on the heels of another tragedy in Harlem, where bodega owner Excenia Mette was fatally shot while checking on her grandson. The back-to-back shootings have sparked outrage and grief in communities already grappling with the scourge of gun violence. The sense of loss and devastation is palpable as loved ones and community members struggle to come to terms with the untimely deaths of these innocent individuals.

As investigations into both shootings continue, the need for peace and safety on the streets of New York City is more apparent than ever. The memories of Daoud Marji and Excenia Mette will live on in the hearts of those who knew and loved them, serving as a reminder of the preciousness of life and the urgent need for an end to senseless acts of violence.
