Adobe Releases Beta Version of Photoshop for Android Users

Adobe has announced the release of the beta version of its Photoshop app for Android users. This comes four months after the company launched the iPhone app, expanding its reach to a wider audience of mobile users.

The Android Photoshop app offers a range of editing tools similar to the desktop version, including layering and masking, all optimized for mobile screens. During the beta period, users can access these features for free, allowing them to explore the capabilities of the app.

Users can take advantage of tools like selections, layers, and masks to combine and blend images. AI features such as “Generative Fill” make it easy to add or transform elements, while tools like “Tap Select” enable quick removal or replacement of image parts. Additionally, users have access to a library of free Adobe Stock assets and can control layers and effects with blend modes and adjustment layers.

The app also includes features like the “Spot Healing Brush” for removing distractions, as well as the “Remove” and “Clone Stamp” tools for refining images. “Object Select” and “Magic Wand” tools allow for more precise selections, enhancing the editing experience for users.

Adobe has also hinted at upcoming capabilities for the app, promising more features to enhance the editing experience for users.

With the release of Photoshop for Android, Adobe aims to attract new users, particularly younger individuals who are accustomed to using their phones for creative purposes. For existing Photoshop users, the mobile app offers a more accessible way to work on their projects while on the go.

The beta version of Photoshop for Android is compatible with devices running Android 11 or later, with a minimum of 6GB of RAM. Adobe recommends 8GB or more for optimal performance while using the app.

Unlike the Android app, the iPhone version of Photoshop launched with both free and paid features. Additionally, the iPhone app integrates with Photoshop on the web for a fee. It remains unclear when Adobe plans to introduce this capability to the Android app.
