Kali Cardenas, a 27-year-old man from Ecuador, arrived in the US in 2016. After his visa expired in 2021, Cardenas remained in the country illegally. In 2023, he was accused of raping a woman at a house party in Queens, New York. Initially facing first-degree rape charges, Cardenas had his charges reduced to misdemeanors after completing a sex offender counseling course. He was sentenced to time served and released with a court order to stay away from his victim. However, he was later caught in a DEA raid and targeted for deportation.

He was also charged with sexually assaulting two 16-year-olds and a tween. Tricia McLaughlin from the Department of Homeland Security called Aquino a “depraved illegal alien” who exploited and killed an innocent child.
Sebastian Zapeta, a 33-year-old Guatemalan, shocked the nation when he was accused of setting a sleeping woman on fire in the New York City subway. Victor Antonio Martinez-Hernandez, originally from El Salvador, was convicted of raping and murdering Maryland woman Rachel Morin. Police stated that Martinez-Hernandez, a suspected gang member, repeatedly crossed the US-Mexico border and traveled across the country for 16 months. DNA found at a Los Angeles residence of a woman and a nine-year-old girl who were victims of a home invasion also matched Martinez-Hernandez. Morin’s mother, Patricia, criticized open border policies for putting American citizens in harm’s way.
Eric Dionida German-Pena, a 25-year-old Dominican Republic native, allegedly broke into the home of aspiring restaurant owner Ilias ‘Lou’ Mavros and bludgeoned him to death in a robbery gone wrong. Mavros was about to open a restaurant in Lynn, Massachusetts. German-Pena, who illegally entered the US in September 2022, is facing murder and immigration charges.
