Former NBA star and current Dallas Mavericks coach, Jason Kidd, has made a significant move by joining the ownership group of Premier League club Everton. Kidd is now part of Roundhouse Capital Holdings, a division of The Friedkin Group (TFG), which acquired Everton in December.
His addition to the ownership group is seen as a valuable asset for Everton, with his wealth of experience and success in basketball expected to benefit the Premier League club.
“I’m thrilled to be a part of Everton’s ownership group during this pivotal time. With a new stadium in the works and a promising future ahead, it’s an exciting opportunity to be involved,” Kidd stated in a press release.
Everton’s executive chairman, Marc Watts, also expressed his enthusiasm about Kidd’s involvement, stating, “As one of the NBA’s most decorated players and a successful coach, his expertise and winning mindset will be a tremendous asset for Everton. He brings a unique perspective on high performance as we strive to build a brighter future together.”
Kidd, a Hall of Famer in basketball since his induction in 2018, boasts an impressive career with 10 NBA All-Star appearances, five All-NBA First Team selections, and an NBA championship with the Mavericks in 2011. He transitioned into coaching and has been at the helm of the Mavericks since 2021, following stints with the Brooklyn Nets and Milwaukee Bucks.

This move is not the first time Kidd has shown interest in owning a Premier League club. Reports suggest that he was part of a consortium that made a bid to acquire Crystal Palace in November 2024.
TFG completed the purchase of former majority shareholder Farhad Moshiri’s 94% stake in Everton in September, with the deal finalizing in December.
