Republican Representative Don Bacon (NE-02), often seen as a disruptive force within the conservative grassroots, is reportedly contemplating retirement as he faces increasing discontent from GOP voters frustrated by what they perceive as his recurrent betrayals.

In an interview with NOTUS on Friday, Bacon revealed that he is discussing his future with family members and intends to announce his decision regarding reelection by the end of summer.

“It is a family decision,” Bacon stated, attempting to frame the decision-making process in a more personal light.

However, whispers from insiders indicate that the situation may be more dire than Bacon is letting on. Three sources cited by NOTUS suggest that Bacon is leaning toward stepping down — a choice that would not only signal a win for conservatives but also present a challenging landscape for Republicans in the suburban Omaha district, which saw Democrat presidential nominee Kamala Harris win by over four points in 2024.

While mainstream media might portray Bacon’s potential exit as a significant setback for the GOP, many conservative activists are viewing it as a chance to finally replace a lawmaker perceived to have consistently aligned himself with Democrats, globalists, and the so-called “Uniparty,” often at the expense of the America First agenda.

A Record of Alleged Betrayals

Opposition to Jim Jordan’s Speakership Bid (2023): Bacon was a notable critic of Rep. Jim Jordan (R-OH), a figure revered among conservatives, during the 2023 House Speaker election. He not only cast his vote against Jordan but also labeled him a “loser” on social media, accusing Jordan’s supporters of election violations.

Backing Kevin McCarthy and Threatening Bipartisanship (2023): Even after McCarthy’s departure, Bacon staunchly defended the former Speaker. In a piece for the Daily Caller, he criticized conservative dissenters and hinted at collaborating with moderate Democrats to secure a “more centrist” Republican Speaker.

Controversial Comparisons of America First (2023): Bacon allegedly equated the Trump-aligned America First movement with Nazi Germany, a remark that struck a nerve with the conservative base.

Bipartisan Votes that Alienated Conservatives: He supported the $1.2 trillion infrastructure bill in 2021, joining only 13 Republicans in doing so, which drew the ire of former President Donald Trump during a 2022 rally. Additionally, he endorsed the Respect for Marriage Act (2022), which enshrined same-sex marriage into law, and co-sponsored the Emmett Till Antilynching Act, moves that critics argue cater to progressive ideals.

Nebraska RINO Rep. Don Bacon Criticizes Trump Officials for Security Breach: In a surprising turn, Bacon has condemned Trump officials for the security lapse that led to sensitive war plans being exposed.

RINO Rep. Don Bacon Calls for Defense Secretary Pete Hegseth’s Dismissal: Echoing Democrat narratives, Rep. Bacon has publicly urged President Trump to dismiss Secretary of Defense Pete Hegseth, based on a debunked New York Times report.
