A group of teenagers on bikes caused chaos at a Los Angeles grocery store, as captured by security camera footage. The incident took place on April 19th, where more than a dozen teens stormed the store, ransacking shelves, spraying pepper spray, and terrorizing shoppers. The mob of hooligans managed to evade store security and grab merchandise before leaving a cloud of mace behind them.

Upon exiting the store, the teens targeted a couple in the parking lot, throwing rocks and bottles at their car while hurling homophobic insults. The victims, Ryan Benson and his partner, were trapped in their car as the teens unleashed their attack. Benson recounted the traumatic experience, mentioning the damage to his car and the fear instilled by the violent outburst.

The LAPD suspects that this group of teens may be responsible for other violent incidents in the city, including a raid on several 7-Eleven stores and a brutal assault near Beverly Hills in February. In the earlier incident, a video circulating on social media showed a swarm of teens assaulting a man who had confronted them during a “street takeover.”

The surge in street takeovers in Los Angeles has been a growing concern, with incidents doubling during the pandemic. These gatherings, involving both cars and bicycles, often lead to traffic disruptions and dangerous situations. In one particularly alarming incident last November, two individuals were hospitalized after being struck by a car performing donuts during a street takeover.

In response to the escalating violence, the LAPD has initiated crackdowns on such activities, and county authorities are considering doubling fines for street takeovers. The community is on edge as these incidents continue to plague the City of Angels, prompting calls for increased vigilance and enforcement to ensure public safety.
