The 9/11 Memorial & Museum Run/Walk took place in NYC over the weekend, with hundreds of participants donning light blue shirts and coming together to retrace the steps of first responders to Ground Zero. The event, held on Sunday, aimed to raise $600,000 to support the 9/11 Memorial & Museum and keep it accessible to the public. Fitness influencer Ally Love was present to kick off the event and show her support.

NYPD officers played a crucial role in ensuring the safety of the participants, shutting down streets in Lower Manhattan and setting up barricades along the route. The race itself held deep symbolic significance as it retraced the paths taken by many first responders on September 11, 2001.

Participants from around the world gathered under the slightly drizzly skies to complete the 5K run/walk. As they crossed the finish line in front of the 9/11 Museum, they were greeted by a moving sight – a line of FDNY firefighters in red shirts cheering them on with applause and words of encouragement.

The 9/11 Memorial and Museum is a highly visited site in the city, attracting over 2.5 million visitors annually. The funds raised from events like the 5K run/walk help keep the memorial free and accessible to all who wish to pay their respects and learn about the tragic events of 9/11.

Overall, the event was a powerful reminder of the resilience and unity of the American people in the face of tragedy. The spirit of camaraderie and remembrance was palpable throughout the event, as participants honored the memory of those who lost their lives on that fateful day.
