The Trump administration has been actively deporting children, some of whom hold legal status in the United States. Shockingly, this includes U.S. citizen children. This decision comes as Trump is now known as the least popular president in American history following his first 100 days in office, as detailed in a recent piece. The latest reports indicate that among the most distressing cases is that of a young girl battling stage four cancer, who was deported despite her father’s scheduled hearing the very next morning aimed at halting her removal.

The narratives emerging from these deportations are nothing short of horrifying, starkly contradicting Trump’s campaign promise to focus on deporting criminals.

In a recent segment on Meet The Press, Secretary of State Marco Rubio attempted to justify the administration’s actions by stating:

“On the headline: that’s a misleading headline, okay? Three U.S. citizens ages four, seven, and two were not deported. Their mothers, who were illegally in this country, were deported. The children went with their mothers. If those children are U.S. citizens, they can come back into the United States if their father or someone here who wants to assume them. But ultimately who was deported was their mother – their mothers, who were here illegally. The children just went with their mothers. But – it wasn’t like – you guys make it sound like ICE agents kicked down the door and grabbed a two-year-old and threw him on an airplane. That’s misleading. That’s just not true.”

Rubio’s comments seem to shift the narrative, framing the situation as a mere consequence of law rather than an egregious violation of human rights. The reality is that the Trump administration effectively abducted three citizen children, stripping them of their due process and the right to a fair hearing.

In an ironic twist, Rubio portrayed the administration’s actions as compassionate, arguing that keeping the children with their deported mothers was somehow a form of mercy.

However, rather than resolving the issue, Rubio’s defense only deepened the controversy, illustrating the chaotic nature of current immigration policies under the Trump administration.
