Eric Dane is all set for the release of his upcoming TV show, “Countdown,” following his recent ALS diagnosis. The first look images of the thriller series were unveiled by Prime Video on Tuesday, April 29, showcasing Dane alongside his co-star Jensen Ackles.
Scheduled to premiere on Wednesday, June 25, “Countdown” revolves around LAPD detective Mark Meachum (played by Ackles), who gets recruited to a secret task force of undercover agents following the murder of a Department of Homeland Security agent. Created and executive produced by showrunner Derek Haas, the show delves into a sinister plot that unravels during the hunt for the killer, leading to a race against time to save a city of millions.
The release of stills featuring Dane in character comes weeks after he publicly disclosed his ALS diagnosis on April 10. In his statement, Dane expressed gratitude for having his loving family by his side as he navigates this new chapter. Despite the diagnosis, he remains committed to his work and is looking forward to returning to the set of “Euphoria” soon. The exact timing of Dane’s diagnosis remains unclear, but he completed filming for “Countdown” last month.
Jensen Ackles took to Instagram on March 15 to announce the completion of Season 1 of “Countdown,” thanking the crew, cast, and everyone involved in the project for the wonderful experience. Dane’s participation in the series was announced in June 2024, with him set to portray Nathan Blythe, the special agent in charge of the task force. Described as military cut, trim, fit, and possessing an imposing glare due to his extensive experience on the job, Nathan Blythe is determined to solve the case at hand by any means necessary.
Joining Dane and Ackles in the series are Jessica Camacho, Violett Beane, Elliot Knight, and Uli Latukefu. The first three episodes of “Countdown” are slated to debut on Prime Video on Wednesday, June 25, promising an intriguing and action-packed storyline for viewers to enjoy.
