Priscilla Pointer, the beloved actress known for her roles in “Dallas” and “Carrie,” passed away at the age of 100. The sad news was confirmed by her daughter, fellow actress Amy Irving, in a heartfelt Instagram post on April 29th. Irving shared a touching tribute to her mother, highlighting Pointer’s successful career in stage, television, and film.

Pointer’s son, David K. Irving, revealed to USA Today that his mother passed away peacefully in her sleep at an assisted-living facility in Ridgefield, Connecticut. Pointer was one of the oldest-living cast members of “Dallas,” where she portrayed Rebecca Barnes Wentworth, the mother of Victoria Principal’s character on the long-running series.

Victoria Principal took to Instagram to pay tribute to Pointer, referring to her as her favorite TV mama and a wonderful woman. The two actresses shared a special bond from their time working together on “Dallas.” Pointer also starred in the classic horror film “Carrie” alongside her daughter Amy Irving, playing her character’s mother. The mother-daughter duo appeared in seven films together, creating memorable on-screen moments.

Throughout her career, Pointer portrayed several iconic mother roles in the 1970s and 1980s, including characters in films like “Looking For Mr. Goodbar,” “The Falcon and the Snowman,” and “Blue Velvet.” Her diverse filmography also included appearances in “A Nightmare on Elm Street 3: Dream Warriors” and “Twilight Zone: The Movie,” as well as roles in TV shows such as “ER,” “Touched by an Angel,” and “Judging Amy.”

Born in New York City, Pointer began her acting career on stage in the 1950s, starring in productions like the first national tour of “A Streetcar Named Desire” and the 1973 Broadway revival of the acclaimed play. She leaves behind a legacy of memorable performances and a lasting impact on the entertainment industry.
