The Masked Singer Season 14 Premiere Recap: Googly Eyes Revealed

“The Masked Singer” Season 14 kicked off with a bang as Boston Red Sox legend David Ortiz, known as Big Papi, was the first celebrity to be eliminated in the premiere episode. Disguised as the “Googly Eyes,” Ortiz performed “Turn Down for What” by DJ Snake and Lil Jon. Panelist Ken Jeong correctly guessed Ortiz’s identity, while others like Jenny McCarthy-Wahlberg, Robin Thicke, and Rita Ora had different guesses.

The second elimination featured a duo disguised as Croissants, with panelists guessing names like Snooki and the Situation, Tim McGraw and Faith Hill, Todd and Julie Chrisley, and Spencer Pratt and Heidi Montag. The Croissants’ identity will be revealed in the next episode.

The two-hour premiere episode also featured head-to-head competitions between various masked contestants like Galaxy Girl, Handyman, Pugcasso, Queen Corgi, Scarab, Snow Cone, Stingray, and Cat Witch. Winners of these faceoffs included Galaxy Girl, Pugcasso, Scarab, Stingray, and Cat Witch, while the bottom five were Handyman, Queen Corgi, Croissants, Snow Cone, and Googly Eyes.

Ultimately, David Ortiz as Googly Eyes was unmasked as the first celebrity eliminated in Season 14. The show also saw the return of host Nick Cannon and panelists McCarthy Wahlberg, Jeong, Ora, and Thicke.

New to this season is “America’s Insider,” featuring singer, dancer, and social media personality Kylie Cantrall, who will share behind-the-scenes hints and clues for viewers. The themed episodes of Season 14 will pay tribute to various pop culture icons like “Star Trek,” “Clueless,” “Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles,” and the “Twilight Saga” films.

The 18 masked contestants in Season 14 include Eggplant, Pugcasso, Queen Corgi, Croissants, Owl, 14 Karat Carrot, Snow Cone, Galaxy Girl, High Voltage, Googly Eyes, Scarab, Handyman, Crane, Le Who Who, Pangolin, Stingray, Cat Witch, and Calla Lily. These contestants have collectively sold 94 million records, received numerous award nominations, and have notable achievements in the entertainment industry.

Past winners of “The Masked Singer” include T-Pain, Wayne Brady, Kandi Burruss, LeAnn Rimes, Nick Lachey, Jewel, Teyana Taylor, Amber Riley, Bishop Briggs, Ne-Yo, Vanessa Hudgens, Boyz II Men, and Gretchen Wilson.

“The Masked Singer” Season 14 is produced by Fox Alternative Entertainment, with Rosie Seitchik, Craig Plestis, and Nick Cannon as executive producers. The show is based on the South Korean format created by Mun Hwa Broadcasting Corp. Stay tuned for more exciting performances and eliminations in the upcoming episodes of the show.
