The City of Covington, Kentucky, is currently inviting proposals for a public art installation in the heart of its new downtown area along the picturesque Ohio River. Public art plays a vital role in shaping the identity and pride of communities, fostering creativity, and promoting social interaction. Covington is looking to commission a landmark art piece that will serve as a focal point for the developing Covington Central Riverfront neighborhood, also known as CCR.

The CCR, once the site of an IRS processing facility, is undergoing a transformation into a vibrant neighborhood complete with restored streets, office spaces, residential areas, retail outlets, and public spaces. The selected art installation will not only enhance the aesthetics of the area but also reflect the spirit of the broader Covington community. This iconic piece will be a symbol of the new mixed-use development in the heart of downtown Covington along the riverfront.

The Carol Ann and Ralph V. Haile, Jr. Foundation will cover the costs of fabricating and installing the chosen artwork, and the selected artist will receive a $5,000 award for their contribution. Proposals must be submitted by the deadline of June 1, 2025.

For more information and to submit your proposal, visit the official website at thecarnegie.com/publicartccr. Don’t miss this exciting opportunity to leave a lasting mark on the evolving landscape of Covington’s downtown area.
