Miniature artist Frank Kunert creates surreal and thought-provoking scenarios in his meticulously crafted miniature sets. From a glass-fronted restaurant with a single chair and table outside in the snow to a diving platform with a table for two perched on top, Kunert’s creations challenge our sense of scale and reality.

His photographs capture a range of structures and interiors that blur the line between familiarity and the uncanny. Whether it’s a racetrack’s snack stand interrupting a running lane or an impossibly narrow apartment complex, Kunert’s work delves into the absurdities of everyday life.

Each miniature set is carefully designed to include details like lighting, furniture, and outdoor settings that give the impression of a reality turned sideways. The compositions possess a dark, ironic undertone, prompting viewers to question what lies beyond closed doors or around hidden corners.

Kunert’s ongoing series, titled “Dreams Come True,” explores even more surreal scenarios that will be compiled in a book or featured in future exhibitions. Additionally, a new monograph titled “The Best of Frank Kunert” is set to be released by Hatje Cantz, offering a comprehensive look at the artist’s work.

For more of Kunert’s mind-bending creations, visit his website and Instagram. His work is a testament to the power of imagination and the ability to transform everyday scenes into surreal and thought-provoking works of art.
