Scott Jennings, the singular conservative voice on CNN, is reportedly contemplating a run for the Senate seat in Kentucky, currently held by Mitch McConnell. Given the political landscape, Jennings could very well be a compelling candidate.

His conservative credentials are solid, and his tenure at CNN has prepared him for the media’s often hostile environment—it’s been nothing short of a crucible for honing his skills.

Moreover, Jennings is a familiar face in Kentucky, his home state, potentially giving him an edge in connecting with voters.

BREAKING: CNN’s Scott Jennings is reportedly considering running for Mitch McConnell’s Senate seat, if Trump wants him to.

Thoughts — would you support Jennings replacing Mitch McConnell in the Senate?

The Daily Beast has reported:

It’s evident from his demeanor and tone that Jennings is eager to transition from commentator to senator. However, the timing of his campaign announcement remains uncertain.

“If the president wants me, I’ll run,” Jennings mentioned to a source at a sophisticated gathering in Washington, following the White House Correspondents’ dinner. “If he wants someone else, I’ll support that candidate,” he added, embodying the Southern charm expected of a Kentucky politician.

Townhall suggests Jennings might be a strong contender:

For the Republican Party to secure a reliable seat in Kentucky, Jennings could be their best bet—especially if he receives an endorsement from President Trump. With his name recognition, persuasive abilities, and political acumen, he could effectively champion Trump’s agenda in the Senate.

In fact, a run bolstered by Trump’s endorsement could lead to a swift victory. While it’s humorous to think he might not need to campaign at all, it’s not entirely unrealistic. After enduring nearly an eternity under Mitch McConnell, the Republican base in Kentucky seems hungry for a fresh perspective, and Jennings appears to fit that mold perfectly.

If Jennings does decide to enter the race, CNN might find itself at a loss; his presence is arguably one of the few reasons to tune in to the network these days.
