Tel Aviv:

Following multiple unsuccessful attempts to intercept it, a ballistic missile launched by Iran-backed Houthis in Yemen struck near Israel’s Ben Gurion Airport, as confirmed by the Israel Defence Forces (IDF) on Sunday. In response, Israel has vowed to retaliate ‘seven times stronger’ against Yemen’s missile attacks.

The missile hit a grove near an access road within the airport’s perimeter, as reported by the Times of Israel.

Despite efforts to intercept the missile, it ultimately impacted the vicinity of Ben Gurion Airport, prompting an investigation by the Israeli Air Force’s aerial defence system. The Israel Airport Authority also stated that they are looking into the incident.

Reports indicate that six individuals sustained injuries when the missile landed in one of the airport’s parking lots. Surveillance footage capturing the moment of impact circulated on social media.

Absolutely INSANE footage of the impact from a Houthi missile on Israel’s Ben Gurion airport.

While no significant damage was reported, the airport’s airspace was temporarily closed for approximately an hour. Operations resumed shortly after, with normal takeoffs and landings resuming.

Former Israeli Minister Benny Gantz, now National Unity chairman, urged the government to hold Iran responsible for the attack. Gantz emphasized that the missile launch originated from Iran, not Yemen, and called for a robust response targeting Tehran.

“The Israeli government must address the threat posed by Iran, which continues to launch ballistic missiles at our nation,” stated Gantz, stressing the need for a decisive stance against such aggression.
