Washington, D.C. – In a bid to combat the devastating impact of illicit drugs, the White House Office of National Drug Control Policy (ONDCP) has launched a poignant new video on Facebook and Instagram. This initiative aims to illuminate the dire consequences that illegal substances, particularly fentanyl, inflict on families across the nation. The video includes heartbreaking testimonials from parents who have endured the unimaginable pain of losing a child to drug-related tragedies, emphasizing the widespread toll of the ongoing drug crisis.

“Our fundamental mission at ONDCP is to prevent illicit drug use and safeguard families,” stated Director Sara Carter. “Traffickers are leveraging online platforms to distribute dangerous drugs, often mixed with lethal substances like fentanyl. It is imperative that we educate our children about the risks associated with drugs and shield them from those who aim to cause irreversible harm.”

This impactful video will be disseminated on Facebook and Instagram, thanks to a partnership with Meta, which is collaborating with ONDCP to broaden the reach of this crucial prevention message. By engaging families, communities, and the private sector, ONDCP aspires to enact significant measures that will diminish drug-related fatalities and preemptively curb drug use.
