As concerns regarding Donald Trump’s mental acuity intensify, NBC News and Meet The Press made the curious decision to omit a segment from an interview that hinted at troubling implications for the mental state of the current president.

Here’s what aired on Meet The Press:

During the interview, Trump expressed optimism about the economy, claiming it would perform “fantastically,” before Kristen Welker pivoted to a question about recession concerns.

However, there was a segment preceding the recession discussion that was notably cut from the broadcast.

Here is the transcript:

PRES. DONALD TRUMP:

My four years were phenomenal, as you know. The stock market—despite the challenges posed by Covid, we achieved remarkable results. When I left office, the market was performing above pre-Covid levels. It was quite astonishing.

KRISTEN WELKER:

I prefer not to dwell on the past, but you did pursue legal action regarding the election.

PRES. DONALD TRUMP:

We must look back to understand the present.

KRISTEN WELKER:

You did bring your allegations to court. Let me ask you, sir—

PRES. DONALD TRUMP:

There’s no doubt about it. The election was rigged. The evidence is clear, and it’s still under litigation. Let’s move on.

KRISTEN WELKER:

You filed over 60 lawsuits—

PRES. DONALD TRUMP:

Yes, and I won many of those cases—

KRISTEN WELKER:

But just to clarify, you did not win those cases.

PRES. DONALD TRUMP:

Indeed, but I had victories as well—

KRISTEN WELKER:

To wrap that up, sir—

PRES. DONALD TRUMP:

What are we discussing? The 2020 election?

KRISTEN WELKER:

No, let’s focus on the present. Are you concerned about a recession?

Now, let’s discuss the segment that NBC chose not to air:

Why did NBC opt to omit this particular segment? This question merits further exploration.
