The 2025 Met Gala Celebrates Black Style and Tailored Fashion
The highly anticipated 2025 Met Gala red carpet is officially open, welcoming guests to celebrate a night of fashion and art. This year’s event is particularly special as it coincides with the Costume Institute at the Metropolitan Museum of Art’s spring 2025 exhibition, “Superfine: Tailoring Black Style.” The exhibition focuses on the influence of menswear and suiting in Black fashion.
The dress code for the gala, aptly named Tailored for You, draws inspiration from the exhibition’s theme, encouraging attendees to showcase their take on tailored fashion.
Leading the gala as co-chairs are prominent figures such as Colman Domingo, Lewis Hamilton, A$AP Rocky, Pharrell Williams, and the iconic Anna Wintour. NBA legend LeBron James also joins the event as an honorary chair, adding his star power to the prestigious lineup.
The host committee comprises a star-studded list of individuals including André 3000, Chimamanda Ngozi Adichie, Spike Lee, Janelle Monáe, and Usher, among others. This diverse group of influencers and creatives ensures a night filled with creativity and style.
With around 450 guests expected to attend, the guest list boasts names like Zendaya, Nicole Kidman, Miley Cyrus, Chance the Rapper, and Kerry Washington, to name a few. The mix of Hollywood stars, musicians, and fashion icons promises an exciting and memorable evening.
Leading up to the Met Gala, pre-event festivities have been in full swing with exclusive parties hosted by fashion houses like Ferragamo, Olivier Rousteing, and Monse, as well as stylist duo Wayman + Micah. These events set the tone for the glamorous affair to come.
For those unable to attend the gala in person, Variety will be providing exclusive coverage on its social channels, including red carpet interviews, fashion highlights, and behind-the-scenes moments.
