Substack Introduces Audio-Only Livestream Feature for Publishers

Substack has unveiled an exciting new feature for publishers who prefer not to show their faces during livestreams. On Tuesday, the platform announced the launch of an audio-only livestream option, providing a more relaxed and anonymous way for creators to engage with their audience.

This new feature allows publishers to simply click on the camera icon to disable video and broadcast in audio-only mode. They have the flexibility to switch back to video at any point during the stream, offering a versatile streaming experience. Despite the absence of video, listeners can still participate by leaving comments and subscribing as they would in a traditional livestream.

The audio-only mode is set to be rolled out starting next week, giving publishers the opportunity to explore this new functionality and enhance their content delivery. This development follows Substack’s decision in January to expand livestreaming access to all publishers, a significant shift from the previous restriction to creators with a minimum of 100 paying subscribers.
