Drug Dealer Allegedly Beats Customer to Death with Dumbbell After Failed Encounter with Prostitute

Carlos Esquivel Aguilar (Chicago Police Department)

According to prosecutors, a drug dealer identified as 34-year-old Carlos Esquivel Aguilar allegedly beat one of his customers, Kelvin Vasquez-Hernandez, to death with a dumbbell in a fit of rage. This incident reportedly occurred after Aguilar’s encounter with a prostitute did not go as planned, leading to his frustration.

The chain of events began on February 3 when Aguilar hired the woman and Vasquez-Hernandez drove them to pick her up in Burbank. Upon returning to Vasquez-Hernandez’s home on North Trumbull, the prostitute engaged in a sexual act with the victim before attempting the same with Aguilar. However, Aguilar’s inability to perform allegedly left him agitated.

After the woman left, Aguilar was seen leaving the house alone and driving away with Vasquez-Hernandez’s car. Days later, Vasquez-Hernandez’s body was discovered during a well-being check, with a blood-stained dumbbell found nearby along with Aguilar’s blood-covered shirt in the apartment.

Despite Aguilar’s claim that he dropped Vasquez-Hernandez off at Jewel-Osco, surveillance footage contradicted his statement. As a result, Aguilar was arrested in connection with the case, with Judge Susana Ortiz deeming him a threat to public safety and ordering his detention.

Using facial recognition technology, Chicago police were able to identify Aguilar as the suspect, with confirmation provided by the prostitute he hired. This shocking incident serves as a grim reminder of the dangers associated with illicit activities and the tragic consequences that can arise.
