Wisconsin is a 6-2 Republican state in Congress. Democrats aim to change that.

A recently filed petition spearheaded by Marc Elias is urging the liberal majority of the Wisconsin Supreme Court to annul the state’s existing congressional districts.

In a surprising twist a month back, Wisconsin voters opted for far-left Democrat Susan Crawford over Republican Brad Schimel in the race for a seat on the Wisconsin Supreme Court.

This pivotal election holds significant implications for Wisconsin’s political landscape, including the future of election laws, voter ID regulations, ballot drop boxes, and the redistricting of the state’s eight U.S. House seats.

At present, Republicans enjoy a 6-2 advantage in U.S. House representation in Wisconsin, yet Democrats have managed to prevail in statewide races—an intriguing anomaly, to say the least.

Susan Crawford won decisively in April and is now seated on the Wisconsin State Supreme Court. A former attorney for Planned Parenthood, she has actively campaigned to maintain unrestricted access to abortion and has taken credit for challenging Act 10—the legislation that curtailed public union authority during Governor Scott Walker’s tenure. Furthermore, she has labeled voter ID laws as “draconian” and collaborated with the League of Women Voters to dismantle them.

In a mere month post-election, Wisconsin Democrats have called upon the Supreme Court to discard the current congressional map.

Interestingly, a similar appeal was turned down in 2024.

PBS Wisconsin reported:

The petition aims to have the congressional district lines redrawn ahead of the 2026 midterms. Filed on May 7 and made public on May 8, it comes from the Elias Law Group, representing Democratic groups and candidates, which also submitted the 2024 request.

The updated petition asserts that the recent court decision to alter state legislative district maps in 2023 has paved the way for revisiting the U.S. House district maps. It requests that the Wisconsin Supreme Court take the case directly, bypassing lower courts.

Without redistricting or questionable practices, it appears challenging for Democrats to gain additional seats in Wisconsin. In the 2024 elections, Republicans outperformed Democrats by nearly a million votes in congressional races.

alleges that significant electoral malfeasance is already occurring in Wisconsin.

Let’s examine the numbers.

When comparing Wisconsin to Missouri, two states with similar demographics and election results, the disparities hint at potential electoral irregularities in Wisconsin.

Missouri–

Six of the eight U.S. House districts are held by Republicans.

Missouri Republicans dominate with 6 out of 8 U.S. House seats.

** Republicans boast a 24 to 10 edge in the Missouri Senate.
** They also command a 111 to 51 majority in the Missouri House of Representatives.
Trump secured Missouri by 15 points.

In the 2020 election, President Trump won by 15 points, with only four of 114 counties voting for Joe Biden.

Once a battleground, Missouri has firmly established itself as a red state, presenting a steep challenge for Democrats.

Now, let’s turn our attention to…
Wisconsin–

Republicans maintain a 6-2 majority in U.S. House districts.

Wisconsin maintains a 6-2 Republican advantage in Congress, yet Democrats continue to win statewide offices.

** Republicans have a 22 to 11 supermajority in the Wisconsin Senate.
** They hold a 64 to 35 lead in the Wisconsin State Assembly.

Yet, bafflingly, President Trump lost his lead late on Election Night 2020, allowing Joe Biden to secure a narrow victory.

In recent years, Democrats have managed to clinch the Governor’s office, the Attorney General’s position, the Secretary of State’s role in 2022, and a recent Supreme Court seat.

Senator Ron Johnson narrowly defeated a radical opponent in 2022.

So, what’s truly happening in Wisconsin?

It seems imperative for Trump and the Republican Party to address these inconsistencies.
