This ceasefire agreement emerged from overnight negotiations, skillfully mediated by the United States, with key players including Secretary of State Marco Rubio and Vice President JD Vance stepping into the diplomatic spotlight.
In a post on his social media platform, Truth Social, President Trump expressed his satisfaction:

Pakistanâs Foreign Minister Ishaq Dar announced that the ceasefire would take effect immediately, reiterating Pakistanâs dedication to regional peace and security.

Indiaâs Foreign Secretary Vikram Misri elaborated that military operations across land, air, and sea would cease starting at 5:00 PM Indian Standard Time, following direct communications between military leaders from both nations.
The recent escalation had been ignited by a terrorist attack on April 22 in Pahalgam, Indian-administered Kashmir, resulting in 26 civilian fatalities. India accused Pakistan-based militants of orchestrating the attack, subsequently launching âOperation Sindoorâ aimed at targeting terrorist installations within Pakistan.
In retaliation, Pakistan initiated âOperation Bunyan Ul Marsoos,â leading to a flurry of missile and drone strikes that amplified concerns of an impending broader conflict.
U.S. Secretary of State Marco Rubio and Vice President JD Vance played pivotal roles in facilitating this ceasefire.

However, reports have surfaced suggesting that Pakistan may have breached the ceasefire agreement.
Indian defense officials claim that Pakistan initiated drone incursions into Jammu and Kashmir, targeting locations such as Srinagar, Udhampur, and parts of Rajasthan. Reports also indicated artillery shelling along the Line of Control (LoC) in sectors including Akhnoor, Rajouri, and RS Pura.
