New Delhi:
Following a surprising announcement by US President Donald Trump about a ceasefire agreement between India and Pakistan, he has now extended an offer to collaborate with both countries to address the Kashmir issue. It is important to note that India has consistently maintained that Kashmir is an integral part of the country and has opposed any third-party involvement in the matter. The response from the Indian government regarding Trump’s offer is eagerly awaited.
Trump expressed his pride in the leadership of India and Pakistan for demonstrating strength, wisdom, and courage in halting the escalating aggression that could have resulted in significant loss of life and destruction. He commended both nations for their brave actions and highlighted the significant role played by the USA in facilitating the ceasefire agreement. Additionally, he mentioned plans to enhance trade relations with India and Pakistan and expressed willingness to assist in finding a solution to the longstanding Kashmir issue.
In a surprising turn of events, Trump revealed yesterday that India and Pakistan have agreed to a complete and immediate ceasefire. This development came as a shock considering the recent exchange of heavy fire between the two countries, with India conducting airstrikes on key military targets in Pakistan just hours before the ceasefire announcement.
US Secretary of State Marco Rubio confirmed that discussions were held with Indian and Pakistani officials, resulting in the decision to initiate a ceasefire and begin talks on various issues at a neutral location. The ceasefire was officially confirmed by India’s Foreign Secretary Vikram Misri, who stated that both countries agreed to halt all military actions on land, air, and sea with immediate effect.
External Affairs Minister Dr S Jaishankar reiterated India’s unwavering stance against terrorism and emphasized the country’s commitment to combating all forms of terrorism. While Prime Minister Narendra Modi is yet to address the ceasefire announcement, Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Ishaq Dar from Pakistan expressed appreciation for the ceasefire agreement and emphasized Pakistan’s dedication to regional peace and security.
Following the ceasefire announcement, instances of violations were reported in Jammu and Kashmir, prompting a response from the Indian foreign secretary condemning Pakistan’s actions and reiterating India’s commitment to defending its sovereignty. The ceasefire came after a period of escalating tensions between India and Pakistan, marked by retaliatory airstrikes and military confrontations.
Despite the ceasefire, Indian defense forces remain vigilant and prepared to defend the nation against any future escalations. They emphasized that any aggression from Pakistan will be met with a strong and decisive response to safeguard the sovereignty and integrity of India.
