Excitement Builds for the Premiere of “Severance” Season 2
After a long wait, fans of the sci-fi workplace thriller “Severance” can finally mark their calendars for the premiere of Season 2 on Apple TV+ on Jan. 17, 2025. The upcoming season is expected to answer lingering questions from the Season 1 finale and delve deeper into the mysterious world of the bio-tech company where employees have undergone a life-altering procedure.
Actor John Turturro, who plays Irving on the show, expressed his excitement for the new season in an interview with Variety, stating, “I think it’ll be a really interesting second season. We are delving into the unknown that the audience is waiting for, and then doing it incrementally.”
Director and executive producer Ben Stiller, who has been eagerly anticipating the return of the series, shared his thoughts on the three-year gap between seasons, saying, “It’s an interesting experience. I’ve never been through it before — a second season of anything. Everything I’ve done has gotten canceled back in the day. But, you know, I feel like there’s an expectation that the audience has — that they should have if they love something.”
“Severance” features a talented ensemble cast including Adam Scott, Britt Lower, Patricia Arquette, Zach Cherry, and Christopher Walken. The first season faced production delays due to the pandemic, while Season 2 encountered challenges from Hollywood strikes and reported creative disputes.
Despite the hurdles, Stiller remains optimistic about the upcoming season, stating, “It’s taken a long time. I hope it’s good. You know, people are just wanting something to live up to what they’ve experienced and have it hopefully not let them down. All you can do is try to do what you think is good.”
As the Season 2 premiere date approaches, Stiller expressed his excitement for viewers to see the new episodes, emphasizing the dedication and hard work that went into crafting the season. He also highlighted the growth of the characters and the deepening relationships between the actors and the story.
Stiller and Turturro recently appeared at Variety‘s Toronto Film Festival Studio to promote their respective projects, “The Cut” and “Nutcrackers,” further building anticipation for the return of “Severance” Season 2.
