Cultpix Secures Exclusive Streaming Rights to Something Weird’s Exploitation Film Library

In an exciting development for fans of cult cinema, Cultpix has announced a groundbreaking deal to become the sole streaming platform for Something Weird’s extensive collection of exploitation and genre films. The announcement was made at the Cannes Film Market, with the launch of the dedicated Something Weird Channel (SWC) on Cultpix’s platform set for June 1. This partnership comes after Something Weird LLC ceased its download-to-own service and DVD-R manufacturing operations last year.

The agreement will bring a host of iconic titles to Cultpix, including “Something Weird,” “All Men Are Apes,” “Indecent Desires,” “Girl Gang,” and many more. Lisa Petrucci, who now leads Something Weird following the passing of founder Mike Vraney, expressed her enthusiasm for the collaboration, stating that Cultpix is the perfect platform to showcase these unique films to a new generation of viewers while still catering to loyal fans.

While the Something Weird archive will have a dedicated section on the Cultpix platform, the preservation outfit will continue to work with physical media distributors for select Blu-ray releases. Cultpix’s co-founder and CEO, Rickard Gramfors, emphasized the expanded partnership as a natural progression of their existing relationship with Something Weird, highlighting the goal of offering a comprehensive selection of cult and genre films to their global audience.

The Cultpix platform recently reduced its pricing to $5.99 monthly or $49 annually, making it even more accessible to film enthusiasts worldwide. With over 1,800 titles from 50 content providers, including film institutes and national archives, Cultpix has established itself as a go-to destination for niche cinema. The platform has also expanded its reach with the launch of apps for Amazon FireTV and Android TV, enhancing the viewing experience for subscribers.

At Cannes this year, Cultpix is not only promoting the launch of new Blu-Rays in partnership with Klubb Super 8 but also showcasing their commitment to preserving and sharing the weird and wonderful world of cult cinema. With the addition of Something Weird’s legendary library, Cultpix is set to solidify its position as a leading destination for fans of offbeat and obscure films.
