Going to college is often seen as a necessary step in achieving success in America. However, the reality is that not everyone pursues a college education, and many students do not end up graduating. According to the Education Data Initiative, only 38% of Americans aged 25 and over are college graduates.

A recent report from Resume Now, a resume-writing service, has identified 13 careers that offer good pay and long-term stability without requiring a college degree. These jobs are also considered to be resistant to automation, meaning they are unlikely to be replaced by AI in the near future. Keith Spencer, a career expert at Resume Now, explained that the analysis focused on addressing common concerns such as a softening job market, the rising cost of college, and the fear of being replaced by AI.

The selected careers require only a high school diploma and offer a minimum salary of $50,000 per year. They are also in high-demand fields that rely on human interaction, creativity, and manual dexterity. Some of the jobs listed include forest fire inspectors and prevention specialists, flight attendants, lodging managers, electricians, plumbers, chefs, and more.

These careers are considered AI-resistant because they involve tasks that require human judgment, adaptability, and personal touch. For example, flight attendants provide in-flight customer service that cannot be automated, while chefs rely on creativity in recipe development and food preparation.

While automation may eventually impact these jobs, for now, they still require human intervention. The report aims to provide alternative career options for those who may not have pursued a college education but are looking for stable and well-paying jobs.
