Ocasio-Cortez Faces Criticism After Leaving Town Hall Amid Crime Concerns

In a recent appearance on Fox News, Guadelupe Alvarez, a constituent of Representative Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez, shared her disappointment after the congresswoman abruptly departed a town hall meeting in the Bronx. Alvarez had posed a pressing question regarding the rising crime rates in their community, only to be met with silence.

As previously reported by , crime in Ocasio-Cortez’s congressional district has surged by a staggering 70% since she took office in 2019. This alarming increase starkly contrasts with the overall 30% rise in crime across New York City, raising eyebrows and prompting constituents to demand answers.

“I attended a town hall where she was speaking in the Bronx, and when I inquired about what she was doing for Jackson Heights—regarding the crime and prostitution issues—she dismissed me,” Alvarez recounted.

Instead of addressing the concerns directly, Ocasio-Cortez reportedly left the room, promising to return but never doing so, and instead delegated the responsibility to her assistant. “It was really infuriating,” Alvarez expressed, highlighting a sense of abandonment felt by constituents.

Moreover, Alvarez alleged that attendees were provided with pre-prepared questions, raising further questions about the authenticity of the dialogue at these town halls.

A recent poll has indicated that Democratic voters are increasingly torn over who represents their party. Results show that many either see Ocasio-Cortez as the face of the party or believe there is no one who fits that role.

Poll Finds Democrat Voters See Either AOC or ‘No One’ as the Face of Their Party

A Co/efficient poll, surveying around 1,400 voters, revealed that:

“Currently, there is no consensus on the face of the Democrat Party, as a majority of voters either give the title to AOC (26%) or simply say there is none (26%). Bernie Sanders falls in a distant second, with other candidates failing to reach double digits.”

This situation has stirred speculation regarding Ocasio-Cortez’s potential ambitions, with many wondering if she is positioning herself for a presidential run in 2028.
