The recently released body cam footage shows the teenager accused in the Apalachee High School shooting denying any threats to open fire at his previous school. The footage, released by the Jackson County Sheriff in Georgia, captures an investigator visiting Colt Gray and his father Colin in May 2023. Colin, who is now facing manslaughter charges for the Apalachee High killings, claimed to take gun safety seriously with his son.

During the investigation, the 13-year-old Colt denied making any menacing remarks about his previous school on the social media platform Discord. He insisted, “I don’t know. Maybe they misheard somebody else. No, I swear.” He also mentioned that he had deleted his Discord account.

The investigator also spoke to Colin, who revealed that he frequently talked to his son about school shootings and bullying. Colin admitted to having multiple weapons in the house, with Colt having access to them, but claimed they were not loaded.

In response to the alleged school shooting threat, Colin expressed his ignorance, stating, “I don’t know anything about him saying (expletive) like that. And I’m going to be mad as hell if he did. And then all the guns will go away. And they won’t be accessible to him.”

It was later revealed that the AR-style rifle used in the school shooting was a Christmas gift from Colin to Colt. Despite this revelation, investigators determined that there was no probable cause to charge Colt two days after the body cam footage was recorded.

Following their eviction in 2022, father and son moved, and Colt enrolled at Apalachee High. Law enforcement has confirmed that there was no record of Colt’s new school being notified about the investigation into the previous shooting threat. The case continues to unfold as more details emerge about the tragic incident at Apalachee High School.
