Borders and Brawls: A Political Showdown at ICE
In a rather dramatic turn of events, Border Czar Tom Homan addressed reporters from at the White House on Tuesday following the indictment of Democrat Representative LaMonica McIver, who stands accused of assaulting ICE agents at the Delaney Hall Detention Center.
Earlier this month, McIver, along with fellow New Jersey Democrats Bonnie Watson Coleman and Robert Menendez, made headlines by storming the ICE facility in Newark, New Jersey, where they engaged in a physical confrontation with federal agents. Footage from the incident depicts McIver yelling at and physically pushing the agents, notably during the arrest of Newark Mayor Ras Baraka, who was also present and subsequently arrested.
As reported by , LaMonica McIver was officially charged for her actions, with U.S. Attorney Alina Habba asserting that “No one is above the law—politicians or otherwise.” The charges include assault, impeding, and interfering with law enforcement.
In response, McIver criticized the charges as “purely political,” claiming they seek to “criminalize and deter legislative oversight.” She further condemned the actions of ICE agents, suggesting they incited a dangerous situation by arresting Mayor Baraka.

Meanwhile, Bonnie Watson Coleman echoed McIver’s sentiments, claiming their access was denied and launching into a colorful tirade that included expletives and accusations of “White supremacy.”
In stark contrast, Homan characterized these claims as “disgusting,” emphasizing that “the tape speaks for itself.” He pointed out that the footage clearly shows McIver, clad in red, engaging in an altercation in an apparent attempt to obstruct the arrest of Mayor Baraka. Homan stressed that instead of attacking ICE agents, McIver should express gratitude for their role in enhancing community safety.
“While these individuals are safely tucked away at home, the men and women of ICE are out there, risking their lives to apprehend public safety threats,” Homan stated. “She ought to be thanking them for their service, not vilifying them.”
Homan also addressed the recent Supreme Court ruling, which lifted a lower court’s block on President Trump’s directive to revoke ‘protected status’ for 350,000 Venezuelans in the U.S. He noted that this decision would facilitate increased deportations, stating, “If they don’t have any status to be in the country, that means they need to be deported.”

While these people are sitting home at night and sleeping in their beds nice and comfortably, the men and women of ICE are on the street, putting their lives on the line to arrest public safety threats and national security threats. She should be thanking them for making her community safer, rather than attacking them. It’s disgusting they would compare them to White supremacists. It’s just disgusting. Look at the tape. The tape speaks for itself.

Homan: We’re going to have more deportations. If they don’t have any status to be in the country, that means they need to be deported.
