A group of “angel families” who have tragically lost loved ones to illegal immigrants and gang members are calling on congressional Republicans to pass President Trump’s proposed border security bill. The families, who have experienced the devastating loss of their children due to the failure of the government to secure the border, are advocating for action and change to prevent future tragedies.

Over 60 angel relatives have signed an open letter to Congress, urging them to support the “One Big Beautiful Bill” that includes funding for the construction of a border wall, hiring more Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) officers, and increasing the capacity of detention facilities. The bill also aims to expedite deportation proceedings and enhance vetting processes for unaccompanied minors.

Despite some opposition from deficit hawks concerned about spending and moderate Republicans seeking higher deductions, House Speaker Mike Johnson is pushing for unity within the party to pass the legislation through budget reconciliation. This process allows for the bill to be passed with a simple majority in both chambers of Congress.

President Trump has voiced his support for the bill, emphasizing the need to remove violent criminals from the country. Patty Morin, a mother who lost her daughter to an illegal immigrant, has also spoken out in favor of the bill, highlighting the devastating impact of lax immigration policies.

The “angel families” are demanding accountability and action from Washington, stating that the tragedies they have faced were preventable. They are calling for an end to excuses and a commitment to finding solutions to secure the border and protect American communities.

In their letter, the families emphasize the permanent void left in their lives by the loss of their loved ones to individuals who should never have been in the country. They urge Congress to prioritize the safety and security of American citizens by passing the proposed legislation without further delay.
