BY THE PRESIDENT OF THE UNITED STATES OF AMERICA

A PROCLAMATION

As we celebrate World Trade Week, we take a moment to reaffirm our dedication to a fair and balanced trading system with our global partners. Too often, the interests of the American worker have been overlooked, leading to the outsourcing of jobs and the abandonment of our factories. Those days are a thing of the past. America will no longer tolerate unfair treatment or disrespect. The United States—and, by extension, the American worker—will always be our top priority.

During my campaign, I envisioned a future that champions the American worker, prioritizing their aspirations over corporate greed. This future is one where American wages rise, industries flourish, national pride is restored, and our interests are vigorously defended.

My Administration is actively realizing this vision. Since I took office, I have implemented measures to improve the lives of all Americans, particularly those who felt forsaken as jobs migrated overseas. I’ve introduced reciprocal tariffs designed to halt the decline of American manufacturing and to facilitate the return of essential jobs to our shores. Furthermore, I have enforced tariffs to curb the influx of fentanyl, protecting our citizens from the toxic consequences of international negligence. To prepare for the resurgence of jobs and manufacturing on American soil, I have prioritized initiatives to equip our workforce with the skills needed for tomorrow’s economy, rather than yesterday’s. These actions are but a few in a larger strategy aimed at uplifting the American worker. The essence of my Administration’s mission is straightforward: we strive to ensure that American workers and their families enjoy a brighter future. We are committed to taking the necessary steps to achieve this goal.

Consequently, during World Trade Week, we commit to intensifying our efforts to combat unfair trading practices that affect every American—from farmers and fishermen to entrepreneurs and beyond. We pledge to bring jobs back home while creating opportunities for American businesses to thrive internationally, exemplified by new trade agreements like the recent deal with the United Kingdom.

As your President, I will continually prioritize America’s interests. Together, we will usher in a new era of prosperity, characterized by robust economic growth and trade policies that put our workers first, fortify our industries, and unlock the American Dream for every citizen.

NOW, THEREFORE, I, DONALD J. TRUMP, President of the United States of America, by the authority vested in me by the Constitution and the laws of the United States, do hereby proclaim May 18 through May 24, 2025, as World Trade Week. Let us celebrate the advantages of American trade.

IN WITNESS WHEREOF, I have hereunto set my hand this twenty-fourth day of May, in the year of our Lord two thousand twenty-five, and of the Independence of the United States of America the two hundred and forty-ninth.

DONALD J. TRUMP
