RESTORING TRUST IN THE SMITHSONIAN: President Donald J. Trump has issued an Executive Order aimed at restoring trust in the Smithsonian Institution. According to the Domestic Policy Council’s report, Saving America’s Story: How Ideological Capture at the Smithsonian Institution’s National Museum of American History Erases Our Heritage, the Smithsonian is not adequately conveying America’s historical narrative with the necessary honesty and pride.
- The Executive Order instructs the Secretary of the Interior, the Director of the Office of Management and Budget, the Administrator of General Services, and the Assistant to the President for Domestic Policy to use their authorities to address the issues identified in the report, ensuring compliance with legal and financial requirements.
- Furthermore, the Secretary of the Interior is tasked with placing temporary signage near the Museum to inform visitors of the report’s findings and provide accurate historical information.
- Additionally, temporary exhibits or signage are to be set up by the Secretary of the Interior to correct any misinformation presented at the National Museum of American History, particularly to honor America’s Founders during its 250th year.
SAVING AMERICA’S STORY FROM CORROSIVE IDEOLOGY: Over the past decade, there has been a notable attempt to alter American history and impose an unfounded ideology that undermines national heroes and achievements.
- The report by the Domestic Policy Council indicates that Smithsonian and Museum leadership have shifted the Museum’s mission from celebrating a shared national heritage to engaging in extreme political activism, influenced by Marxism, which divides and discourages Americans.
- The report also highlights that the Smithsonian is not fulfilling its duty to accurately present America’s history, despite receiving over $1 billion annually from taxpayers.
- In response, President Trump is working to return the Smithsonian to its original mission of truthful historical representation.
CELEBRATING OUR HERITAGE: President Trump is dedicated to ensuring American history is celebrated accurately and with pride, recognizing the nation’s progress, liberty, and innovation.
- On his first day in office, President Trump signed an Executive Order creating a task force to prepare for America’s 250th birthday, fostering a renewed appreciation for American history and encouraging citizens to explore the nation’s beauty and innovation for the next 250 years. The task force has organized unique events, such as Rededicate 250, The Great American State Fair, and others.
- This Order also aims to protect American monuments from vandalism and supports the creation of the National Garden of American Heroes.
- In March 2025, President Trump signed an Executive Order to restore factual integrity to American history by revitalizing cultural institutions and countering divisive ideologies.
- Also, in March 2025, President Trump signed an Executive Order to enhance Washington, D.C., as a symbol of national pride, establishing the D.C.
