Colin Farrell recently opened up to Total Film magazine about his uncertainty regarding reprising his role as Oswald Cobblepot, aka The Penguin, for a potential second season of the hit TV show. The actor expressed the challenges he faced emotionally and physically transforming into the iconic Batman villain for the first season of the series, which debuted after his appearance in 2022’s “The Batman.”

While Farrell expressed his love for the role and the privilege of being a part of the character’s rich history, he confessed that the transformation took a toll on him by the end of filming. Despite feeling grateful for the opportunity, he admitted to feeling a sense of relief when the production wrapped up, stating, “I never want to put that fucking suit and that fucking head on again.”

However, Farrell will have to don the Penguin suit once more for “The Batman 2,” which is set to begin production next year and hit theaters in 2026. Director Matt Reeves confirmed that Farrell’s Penguin character plays a significant role in the sequel film, with the events of “The Penguin” series leading directly into the narrative of the upcoming movie.

Reeves shared that Farrell will be a part of the next Batman installment, with the script seamlessly connecting the two projects to ensure a cohesive storyline. The director hinted at the Penguin’s involvement in Batman’s new case, emphasizing the seamless transition between the TV show and the movie.

Despite his reservations about returning for a second season of “The Penguin,” Farrell’s commitment to “The Batman 2” is evident, showcasing the actor’s dedication to the character and the larger DC universe. As fans eagerly anticipate the debut of “The Penguin” series, Farrell’s portrayal of the iconic villain is sure to leave a lasting impact on audiences.
