As unauthorized border crossings see a significant decline, the U.S. Border Patrol has announced the dismantling of a soft-sided “migrant processing facility” in the San Diego Sector, a structure that was erected during the Biden Administration. This development follows a staggering 96%+ drop in illegal crossings in the area.

This tightening of border enforcement coincides with ongoing efforts from the Trump Administration to apprehend criminal illegal immigrants nationwide, suggesting a dual approach to immigration policy that blends deterrence with enforcement.

Here are a few of the individuals recently apprehended for serious offenses:

  • Kevin Estuarde Hernandez, an 18-year-old from Guatemala, was arrested in Boston. He is suspected to be associated with the 18th Street Gang and has been implicated in violent clashes with rival gang MS-13.
  • Jose Antonio Deras, a 45-year-old from El Salvador, was arrested in Denver. He faces four felony charges related to child sexual assault and had been ordered removed from the U.S. as early as 2009.
  • Eduardo Sanchez-Hernandez, a 32-year-old from Mexico, was arrested in Newark. He is facing charges for the sexual assault of a minor under the age of 13.
  • Litzy Janel Saavedra, a 26-year-old from Mexico, was arrested in New York City. He has a history of a conviction for third-degree felony rape.
  • Carlos Torres Valdovinos, a 46-year-old from Mexico, was apprehended in San Francisco. He has a prior conviction for felony oral copulation of a child.
  • Jose Barrios-Bello, a 35-year-old from Mexico, was arrested in Salt Lake City. He has been convicted for meth distribution and has previously been deported.
  • Misael Delgado-Carlos, a 35-year-old from Mexico, was arrested in Houston. She has a conviction for aggravated assault with a deadly weapon and has also been deported before.
