The American Music Awards made a triumphant return on Monday night, airing live for the first time since 2022 on its new home at CBS. Hosted by Jennifer Lopez, the 2025 edition of the AMAs drew in an impressive 4.86 million viewers, marking a 38% increase from the previous live broadcast in 2022 on ABC.

Billie Eilish was the big winner of the night, taking home awards in all seven categories she was nominated in. This included prestigious wins such as Artist of the Year, Album of the Year for “Hit Me Hard and Soft,” and Favorite Female Pop Artist. Eilish’s domination also extended to Favorite Pop Album, Song of the Year, and Favorite Pop Song.

CBS secured the broadcast rights for the AMAs in May 2024, along with the Golden Globes. The network previously aired a special “American Music Awards 50th Anniversary Special” in October. The partnership between CBS and Dick Clark Productions, co-owned by PMC and Eldridge, has proven to be successful.

The viewership numbers for the 2025 AMAs encompassed both live television and streaming on Paramount+. CBS proudly announced that the show was the top-rated broadcast of the night, with significant growth in key demographics compared to the 2022 broadcast. There was a 91% increase in adults 18-34, a 23% increase in adults 18-49, and a 16% increase in adults 25-54.

The AMAs also made a splash on social media and digital platforms, generating a staggering 9.2 billion potential impressions and over 816.6K mentions. CBS’s social accounts amassed over 100 million video views within the first 24 hours across various platforms like Instagram, TikTok, and Facebook. Additionally, the Twitch live broadcast of the AMAs reached a peak viewership of 205.5k during YouTube star Kai Cenat’s appearance, as reported by TwitchTracker.

Overall, the 2025 American Music Awards proved to be a massive success, drawing in a large audience on television and engaging fans across social media and digital platforms. The partnership between CBS and Dick Clark Productions has revitalized the AMAs, setting the stage for future exciting broadcasts.
