A 21-year-old man from Hoffman Estates, Devin Roldan-Brossett, has been extradited to Chicago from Louisiana to face murder charges after allegedly shooting and killing 38-year-old Israel Guzman inside The Levee bar in Hermosa last December.

The shooting took place at around 7:45 p.m. on December 12 at The Levee, located at 4035 West Fullerton. According to prosecutors, surveillance footage captured Roldan-Brossett shooting Guzman in the chest and face before fleeing the scene. The motive for the shooting was described as unprovoked.

Witnesses at the scene identified Roldan-Brossett as the shooter, and further evidence, including cell phone location data and firearms testing, linked him to the crime. As a result, Cook County Judge Susana Ortiz ordered Roldan-Brossett to be detained pending trial.

Roldan-Brossett had attempted to evade authorities by fleeing to Louisiana and hiding his identity. However, he was ultimately apprehended and brought back to Chicago to face justice for his alleged actions.

The case highlights the importance of thorough investigation and the cooperation of law enforcement agencies in apprehending suspects involved in violent crimes. The extradition of Roldan-Brossett serves as a reminder that individuals who commit serious offenses will be held accountable for their actions, regardless of where they attempt to evade justice.

As the legal process unfolds, the community will be looking for answers and seeking closure for the tragic loss of Israel Guzman. The prosecution of Roldan-Brossett will be a crucial step in delivering justice and ensuring the safety and security of the public.
