Netflix has recently announced the greenlighting of a new Korean series that is set to deliver psychological thrills with a star-studded cast. Titled “Notes From the Last Row,” the series will be an adaptation of the popular Spanish play “El Chico de la Ăşltima fila” for Korean audiences.
The storyline revolves around Heo Mun-oh, a literature professor and writer whose creative spark has faded over time. Everything changes when he encounters Lee Kang, a mysterious student with exceptional literary talent who always sits at the back of the classroom.
Choi Min-sik, known for his roles in “Exhuma” and “Big Bet,” will be portraying the character of Heo Mun-oh. He embarks on a journey of mentorship after being captivated by Lee Kang’s writing assignment, played by rising star Choi Hyun-wook from “Weak Hero Class 1” and “Twenty-Five Twenty-One.”
The cast also includes Huh Joon-ho as Kim Su-hun, Mun-oh’s successful writer friend, and Kim Yun-jin as Ahn Eun-joo, Su-hun’s wife. Jin Kyung will be portraying Jo Hyeon-suk, Mun-oh’s psychologist wife, adding depth to the ensemble.
Director Kim Gyu-tae, known for his work on “The Trunk” and “Our Blues,” will be at the helm of the series, bringing his expertise in psychological storytelling. The screenplay is penned by Jang Myung-woo, the writer behind “My Mother, the Mermaid.”
Produced by Kakao Entertainment and Gtist, the series is currently in production, with a table read featuring the main cast recently completed. Fans can expect an intense and gripping narrative that explores the complexities of relationships and creativity in “Notes From the Last Row.”
