The View co-host Sunny Hostin recently asserted that the cuts implemented by Elon Musk during his tenure overseeing the Department of Government Efficiency (DOGE) have resulted in the tragic loss of over 300,000 lives, predominantly among children.
During a segment of Wednesday’s show, Hostin and her co-hosts delved into Musk’s controversial legacy following his departure from the governmental role.
“The extent of the damage he inflicted is simply staggering,” Hostin stated emphatically.
“He eliminated 250,000 federal positions, terminated more than 8,500 contracts, and cut over 10,000 grants. His reductions in medical research funding contributed to the loss of 300,000 lives — mostly children — due to diminished foreign aid,” she elaborated.
“That’s the legacy Elon Musk leaves behind,” she concluded, cautioning against taking his opinions seriously.
However, the provenance of Hostin’s alarming statistic remains questionable, as her fellow panelists refrained from challenging her claims. Instead, co-host Whoopi Goldberg interjected, “Elon knows the 411 on everything.”
“Indeed, he has all that information,” Hostin concurred.
“So Trump better watch out,” chimed in Joy Behar. “He has the receipts on the election, too.”

While the cast of The View is frequently characterized by their strong anti-Trump sentiments, Hostin has gained notoriety for her particularly outrageous remarks regarding the former president.
In a previous episode, she drew an outrageous parallel between the January 6th protests and the Holocaust, labeling the former as an “atrocity” comparable to one of the darkest chapters in human history.
“It was one of the most significant low points in American history,” she contended. “When we reflect on the worst moments in this nation’s past—events like World War II, the Holocaust, and the institution of chattel slavery—we must ensure these memories endure.”

More recently, Hostin urged that the Democratic Party must be prepared to “fight and die” in their efforts to counter the Trump administration.
“The Baby Boomers, the civil rights generation—they understood the stakes,” she asserted. “They were ready to fight and die for their rights.”
“Today’s Congress, however, is failing to rise to the occasion,” she lamented. “We are in an existential crisis.”
