In a recent display of hyperbole, Senate Minority Leader Chuck Schumer suggested that the passage of the so-called “Big Beautiful Bill” could lead to catastrophic consequences, even claiming that “we’re all going to die.”

UNHINGED: @SenSchumer asserts that “WE’RE ALL GOING TO DIE” if we approve the largest tax cut in history, deny illegal immigrants access to taxpayer-funded healthcare, and make strides in deficit reduction.

Now, it seems House Minority Leader Hakeem Jeffries has decided to jump on the same alarmist bandwagon, echoing the notion that the bill’s approval would result in dire consequences for the populace.

In this context, Jeffries’ remarks further illuminate the Democratic Party’s apparent strategy: to position themselves as the opposition to Trump rather than presenting a robust alternative vision for the American electorate.

NBC News reports:

‘More is more’: Hakeem Jeffries encourages Democrats to intensify their opposition to Trump

As President Donald Trump’s second term commenced with a whirlwind of executive actions, Democrats found themselves at a crossroads: should they counter every controversial move or selectively target their responses? The latter option has been abandoned, with Democrats now fully committed to challenging Trump in various arenas.

Jeffries has taken the reins of this strategy, motivating fellow Democrats to enhance their visibility both locally and in the digital sphere. Rather than maintaining his usual single weekly press conference, he has ramped up his engagements to as many as three sessions per week.

“House Democrats are rising to the occasion to meet the moment,” Jeffries stated. “However, it is clear that we must collectively increase our efforts until we can put an end to the national crisis that Donald Trump and House Republicans are inflicting on the American public.”

With such a lack of substantive proposals, it’s hardly surprising that the Democratic Party’s approval ratings have plummeted.
