In a scene reminiscent of a dystopian movie, Los Angeles finds itself grappling with unprecedented turmoil. As ICE agents attempt to fulfill their duties, a group of self-styled ‘protesters’ have taken to the streets, throwing rocks at government vehicles and physically obstructing their passage.
The situation has escalated to such a degree that Tom Homan has declared the necessity of deploying the National Guard to restore order.
Meanwhile, California’s Democratic leadership appears to be floundering, seemingly unable to provide any meaningful intervention.
In response to this chaos, Los Angeles Mayor Karen Bass tweeted:
This is a challenging moment for our city. As we recover from an extraordinary natural disaster, many in our community are experiencing fear due to recent federal immigration enforcement actions throughout Los Angeles County.
Reports of unrest in adjacent areas, including Paramount, are deeply troubling. We are in direct communication with officials in Washington, D.C., and are collaborating closely with law enforcement to identify the most effective way forward.
While everyone is entitled to peacefully protest, let me emphasize: violence and destruction are intolerable, and those responsible will face accountability.

California Governor Gavin Newsom also weighed in via Twitter:
As the federal government conducts erratic immigration sweeps nationwide, the state is deploying additional California Highway Patrol officers to ensure safety on Los Angeles highways. It is vital to note that it is not their responsibility to assist in federal immigration enforcement.
The federal government is orchestrating chaos to justify an escalation of their tactics. Such behavior is unbecoming of any civilized nation.

As violence brews and federal agents are met with hostility in downtown Los Angeles, one cannot help but notice that the mayor and governor are responding with a tone more suited for a schoolyard scuffle than a civic emergency.
