The NHL offseason is fast approaching, with only two teams left in contention for the Stanley Cup. As the focus shifts to the upcoming NHL Draft on June 27-28 and free agency on July 1, there is also speculation surrounding potential trades involving some star players in the league.

Before the offseason officially kicks off, let’s take a look at three NHL players who could find themselves on the move.

3 NHL Stars Who Could Be Traded Ahead of the 2025 NHL Draft

1, Rasmus Andersson, Calgary Flames

Rasmus Andersson is heading into the final year of his six-year, $27.3 million contract with the Calgary Flames. A key defenseman on the Flames’ top pairing, Andersson’s name has been swirling in trade rumors. If Andersson indicates that he won’t re-sign with Calgary, the Flames may look to move him at the draft in exchange for a package that includes draft picks. In the previous season, Andersson notched 31 points with 11 goals and 20 assists in 81 games.

2, Marco Rossi, Minnesota Wild

Marco Rossi, a pending restricted free agent, has been at the center of trade discussions. The young forward hasn’t been satisfied with his role on the Minnesota Wild and has been linked to both offer sheets and potential trades. Wild GM Bill Guerin has acknowledged that trading Rossi is a possibility, although he emphasized the team’s appreciation for the player’s talent. Rossi, drafted ninth overall in 2020, posted impressive numbers last season with 60 points from 24 goals and 36 assists in 82 games.

3, Chris Kreider, New York Rangers

The New York Rangers are in the midst of a roster overhaul, and Chris Kreider’s name has emerged in trade talks. While Kreider holds trade protection, a change of scenery could benefit both him and the team. It’s likely that Kreider would be traded for draft picks, making a deal before the draft a plausible scenario.

As the NHL offseason approaches, keep an eye on these players as potential trade targets in the coming weeks.
