WASHINGTON, DC – In a bold move to rejuvenate the U.S. aviation sector, President Trump has enacted three executive orders aimed at boosting domestic drone production, securing American airspace, and reestablishing the nation’s leadership in supersonic technology.

“After decades of bureaucratic inertia that has effectively grounded significant advancements in drones, flying cars, and supersonic travel, the Trump Administration is now empowering innovators to test, develop, and commercialize these revolutionary aircraft,” remarked Michael Kratsios, Director of the White House Office of Science and Technology Policy. “These executive orders will herald a new chapter of American aviation supremacy, driving innovation, stimulating economic growth, and reinforcing our national security.”

The long-standing regulatory hurdles have stifled domestic drone innovation and stalled advancements in supersonic flight for far too long. The newly signed executive orders aim to accelerate the development of drones, ensure robust supply chains, diminish dependence on adversarial nations, and remove the regulations that have hampered progress in supersonic travel. By doing so, they position the U.S. at the forefront of emerging aviation technologies. Furthermore, the orders facilitate routine beyond line-of-sight operations, enabling the domestic drone economy to better assist in critical infrastructure needs, emergency response, and efficient long-distance deliveries of cargo and medical supplies.

Moreover, the executive orders initiate a pilot program for testing flying cars, or electric vertical take-off and landing (eVTOL) aircraft, which will be deployed for emergency medical services, air taxis, cargo transport, and defense logistics. This pilot program builds on the successes of President Trump’s 2017 drone initiatives, showcasing how his administration strives to maintain America’s leadership in these futuristic technologies.

Aside from promoting innovation, these executive orders also tackle the escalating threats posed by criminal and terrorist drone activities within U.S. airspace. The administration is taking decisive steps to fortify our borders against aerial threats by intensifying efforts to monitor unlawful drone operations and prioritizing real-time detection and identification systems to enhance national security.
