The recent controversy surrounding British comedian and children’s author David Walliams has sparked outrage after he was caught making two Nazi salutes during the recording of the Christmas special of the comedy panel show ‘Would I Lie To You?’ at Pinewood Studios. The incident occurred while actor Helen George was sharing a story about injuring her wrist while waving.

The BBC, as well as the show’s production company Zeppotron, have both condemned Walliams’ gestures as “completely unacceptable” and have confirmed that the segment will not be aired. A BBC spokesperson issued an apology, stating that “The use of such an offensive gesture is completely unacceptable and we apologize to all at the recording for the offence caused.”

In a statement released by Banijay, the parent company of Zeppotron, they emphasized that “Any attempt at humour regarding this deeply offensive gesture, whether broadcast or not, is completely unacceptable in any context.” They also apologized to those present at the recording for any offense caused.

This is not the first time Walliams has faced backlash for his behavior. Previously serving as a judge on Britain’s Got Talent, he was ousted after insulting comments about contestants were made public in a bombshell investigative article in The Guardian in 2022.

The incident was first reported by The Times of London, shedding light on the inappropriate behavior displayed by Walliams during the recording. It serves as a reminder of the importance of being mindful of our actions and the impact they can have on others.

In conclusion, it is crucial for public figures like David Walliams to be held accountable for their actions and to strive for more responsible behavior, especially when it comes to sensitive topics such as Nazi symbolism. Let this incident serve as a lesson for all of us to think before we act and to always consider the consequences of our words and actions.
