Joey Chestnut is gearing up for a major comeback at the Nathan’s Hot Dog Eating Contest on July 4th, and he’s setting his sights on a jaw-dropping goal of devouring 80 hot dogs in the competition.
After taking a year off due to sponsorship issues, Chestnut is determined to make a statement this year and reclaim his title as the world’s greatest eater.
“You have to go without something in order to know how much you appreciate it,” Chestnut said. “I’m definitely hungry for this year. Two and a half weeks, I’m going to be putting down some hot dogs.”
“I’m going in … I’m gonna drop the hammer. From the first minute to the last, I want to be dominant,” Chestnut declared.
Chestnut’s ambitious goal is to consume over 80 hot dogs within the 10-minute time limit, surpassing his previous record and solidifying his dominance in the competitive eating world.
Reflecting on his absence from the contest last year, Chestnut acknowledged the support from his fellow competitors and the eating community, emphasizing the camaraderie and sportsmanship within the competitive eating circuit.
Chestnut also addressed the recent reconciliation with Major League Eating, highlighting the importance of open communication and finding common ground to move forward positively.
With the past conflicts resolved, Chestnut is focused on one thing: “It’s time to eat some hot dogs.”
