A24 Expands U.K. Office with Senior Executive Poaching

A24 continues to strengthen its presence in the U.K. by poaching senior executives from the local industry. Laura Lankester and Will Johnston, co-CEOs of Lookout Point, a BBC Studios-owned company known for producing prestigious dramas such as “Les Miserables,” “A Suitable Boy,” and “War & Peace,” are set to join A24 to help grow its international TV operations.

The duo will join a team in the U.K. led by Piers Wenger and Rose Garnett, who were previously hired from the BBC in 2022. Lankester and Johnston, who will leave their current positions this autumn, will also continue to produce Netflix’s adaptation of “Pride and Prejudice” and oversee projects for BritBox.

A24’s expansion in the U.K. comes as its British series slate gains momentum with recent commissions like “Major Players,” “The Husbands,” and “First Day on Earth.” The company is also working on various adaptations and new series, showcasing its commitment to creative excellence.

“We are excited to join A24 and work alongside Piers and Rose,” said Lankester and Johnston in a joint statement. “Our time at Lookout Point has been formative, and we are grateful for the opportunities we’ve had. We look forward to this new chapter.”

In a statement, BBC Studios head of scripted Mark Linsey wished the departing CEOs of Lookout Point the best in their new roles and expressed confidence in the label’s creative health.

Lankester’s credits include producing acclaimed series like “Gentleman Jack” and “A Suitable Boy,” while Johnston has worked on projects like “Renegade Nell” and the final season of “Happy Valley.”

Overall, A24’s expansion in the U.K. signals its commitment to quality storytelling and innovative content creation. With the addition of Lankester and Johnston, the company is poised for further success in the international TV market.
