Disney+ has officially given the green light to a new live-action series titled “The Remarried Empress,” which is based on the immensely popular Korean web novel and webtoon series that has garnered over 2.6 billion views worldwide. The romantic fantasy drama will feature a star-studded cast including Shin Min-a, Ju Ji-hyun, Lee Jong-suk, and Lee Se-young in key roles.

Shin Min-a, known for her roles in “Hometown Cha-Cha-Cha” and “Karma,” will portray Empress Navier, while Ju Ji-hyun, from “Light Shop” and “The Trauma Code: Heroes on Call,” will play Emperor Sovieshu of the Eastern Empire. Lee Jong-suk will take on the role of Heinrey, the Crown Prince of the Western Kingdom with a hidden secret, and Lee Se-young will portray Rashta, a former slave who rises to power as a concubine with ambitions for the throne.

The storyline of “The Remarried Empress” revolves around Navier, a perfect empress whose life is turned upside down when her husband returns with a mistress and demands a divorce. Instead of accepting defeat, Navier proposes a counteroffer to marry a prince from the Western Kingdom, setting off a captivating tale of political intrigue, romance, and power struggles.

The series will be adapted for streaming by Yeoh Geena and Hyun Choong-yeol, the creative minds behind “The Uncanny Counter,” with Cho Su-won taking on the directorial duties. “The Remarried Empress” is just one of Disney+’s many Korean originals, joining the likes of “A Shop For Killers,” “Nine Puzzles,” “Low Life,” and “Tempest,” featuring top Korean talent and captivating storylines.

With a diverse range of Korean content on offer, Disney+ continues to expand its global reach and appeal to audiences around the world. Stay tuned for more updates on “The Remarried Empress” and other exciting Korean originals coming soon to the streaming platform.
