Trump’s Outcry Over Juneteenth Federal Holiday

On Thursday, former President Trump expressed his frustration over the federal holiday for Juneteenth, attributing its establishment to President Joe Biden.

“We have too many non-working holidays in America,” Trump lamented. “This is costing our country billions of dollars as businesses remain shuttered. The workers don’t want it either! At this rate, we’ll have holidays for every single workday of the year. Change is essential if we are to, MAKE AMERICA GREAT AGAIN!”

The Biden administration, in 2021, celebrated the signing of bipartisan legislation that designated Juneteenth as the nation’s newest federal holiday, aiming for all Americans to honor the significance of the day, reflect on historical lessons, and engage in ongoing efforts for equality.

Some critics have pointed out that Biden’s choice to make Juneteenth a federal holiday stands as a rare moment in a century when Democratic administrations were not directly involved in racial violence against African Americans.

Despite his long political history, Biden’s relationship with racial issues has been scrutinized, especially given he signed the law establishing Juneteenth as a federal holiday in 2021.

“Until recently, few Americans were aware of what Juneteenth represented,” critics argue. “Even Barack Obama never tweeted about it or addressed the event publicly.”

Interestingly, just a year prior to the holiday’s establishment, Biden seemed confused about Juneteenth, even mixing it up with the Tulsa Massacre. “He’s going down to Texas on Juneteenth, right? The first major massacre of the Black Wall Street, right?” he stated, showcasing a lack of understanding of the historical context.

Last year, Biden’s public appearance on Juneteenth raised eyebrows; he appeared unusually still, leading to speculation about his engagement and clarity during the event.
