The Lakers’ rivalry with the Celtics goes beyond the court, as Byron Scott joyfully acknowledged the sale of L.A.’s NBA team, which surpassed Boston’s by nearly $4 billion!
The former Lakers player and coach, Byron Scott, celebrated Jeanie Buss’ $10 billion sale of the team, proudly pointing out that it exceeded Boston’s $6.1 billion sale earlier in March.
“That’s all that matters,” Scott exclaimed with a grin. “We topped them! We beat them by $3.9 billion!”
With 11 years as a Lakers player and coaching stints in the 2010s, Scott’s deep understanding of the rivalry fuels his competitive spirit against Boston.
While extremely happy for the Buss family, whom he’s known for decades, Scott admitted Jeanie’s decision to sell caught him off guard.
“At the end of the day, it’s a business,” Scott acknowledged. “The Buss family, led by Dr. Jerry Buss, has been exemplary in their management and ownership of the team.”
Regarding new owner Mark Walter, Scott expressed confidence in Jeanie Buss’ choice, emphasizing the importance of continuing the Lakers tradition.
