The United States is repositioning a number of B-2 stealth bombers to the strategically significant island of Guam in the Western Pacific. This move comes two weeks after Israel’s military operations targeting Iranian nuclear sites, according to reports from U.S. officials.

At 6 PM ET, President Trump is set to engage in a national security briefing in the Oval Office, further emphasizing the urgency of the situation.

Earlier reports indicated that up to six B-2 bombers could be en route to Guam, raising speculation about a potential U.S. offensive against Iran’s nuclear installations.

This strategic bomber deployment follows President Trump’s comments on considering military action against Iran, while also hinting at the possibility of diplomatic negotiations, which he stated “may or may not take place in the near future.”

“Given the substantial chance of negotiations, I will decide whether or not to proceed within the next two weeks,” he said, leaving room for both dialogue and potential conflict.

Each B-2 bomber has the capacity to carry two 30,000-pound bunker buster bombs, specifically designed to penetrate deep underground, making them ideal for targeting Iran’s fortified nuclear sites, such as the Fordow facility buried 300 feet within a mountain.

Experts note that a single bunker buster can reach depths of 200 feet, and deploying a second bomb on the same target could exacerbate structural damage significantly.

According to Fox:

More from Reuters:

WASHINGTON, June 21 (Reuters) – The United States is mobilizing B-2 bombers to the Pacific island of Guam, as President Trump deliberates on the U.S. response to Israel’s actions against Iran.

Whether this deployment is directly linked to escalating tensions in the Middle East remains uncertain.

Officials, who requested anonymity, did not provide additional details, stating that no definitive orders had been made regarding the bombers’ future movements beyond Guam.

Military analysts are keenly observing if the B-2 bombers will proceed to the U.S.-British military base on Diego Garcia, an Indian Ocean island strategically positioned for operations in the Middle East.

This is an evolving story.
